October 28, 2017 – Grand Day Parade - Join us as we celebrate 97 years as Anoka Halloween Capital of the World™ at the largest parade in the state.  Watch overhead as the T-6 Thunder showcase a special flyover for us to open our parade.  Flyover sponsored by Federal Premium.  Location: Main Street and Fifth Avenue.  ***Special Notice about reserving space during both; Night Parade and Grand Day Parades.  Prior to 4:00 a.m. on the day of a morning or daytime parade and 4:00 p.m. on the day of a nighttime parade, no person shall claim or attempt to claim, reserve, occupy or otherwise control public space along the adjoining parade route, either in person or by the placement of any objects such as, but not limited to, ropes, tapes, chairs, blankets, barricades or barriers of any kind. After the foregoing 4:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. time restrictions, ropes, tapes, chairs and blankets may be used to reserve public space along the adjoining parade route, provided such objects are removed within three (3) hours following the conclusion of the parade.  Any objects located on public property in violation of Section 50-254 may be removed by the City or its designee and stored at a location designated by the City until such time as the object is claimed by its owner or deemed to be abandoned by the City pursuant to Section 50-256. The City shall not be responsible for any objects removed and/or stored by the City pursuant to this Section.  Individuals who have had objects removed from public property pursuant to Section 50-255 must claim their objects no later than three (3) calendar days following the conclusion of the parade. October 29, 2017 - Family Fall Festival - The Family Fall Festival at Prairie Oak Community Church is a FREE community event for all ages.  There will be activities for the whole family - indoor trick-or-treat, bounce houses, carnival games, crafts, chili and pie tasting, prizes, food, hayride, contests, kids playland, photo booth, and more. October 31, 2017 – Andover Fire Dept. Halloween Open House - The Andover Fire Department stations 2 and 3 will be OPEN on Halloween for kids to stop by and see us. We will have treats AND they can meet the firefighters and see our equipment. There is nothing scary about the fire station, but it brings a sense of community to the kids when they stop by and visit.  Please bring the kids to say hello. November 3, 2017 - Comedy at the Courtyards Featuring Bryan Miller & Casey Flesch - Bryan Miller renounced all seriousness and quit his job as a newspaper editor to move to Minneapolis, Minnesota, and try standup comedy in 2008. In his first year he was a finalist in Acme’s Funniest Person in the Twin Cities contest, and just two years later he was spotted by Craig Ferguson, who invited him to do a spot on CBS’s The Late Late Show, where he made his network television debut in April 2012. Every week he writes football jokes for Costaki Economopoulos’s “Quick Snaps” podcast and radio segment, which is featured on the Bob & Tom Show and can be found on iTunes. He’s also a recurring opener for Minnesota Public Radio’s comedy variety show Wits. Bryan has appeared in the Great American Comedy Festival, the Boston Comedy Festival, and the Laughing Skull Comedy Festival, can be heard on Sirius/XM radio, and is featured on the Stand Up! (ACCAP) is committed to helping individuals in Anoka County, Minnesota out of poverty and into the community as productive citizens.  Information and referral services are offered to Anoka County residents through programs such as Child Care Resource & Referral and the Senior Information Line. ACCAP also provides direct services and subsidies to residents such as affordable housing, the Energy Assistance Program, the Child Care Assistance Program, and the Weatherization Program.  These programs and services help individuals and families in our community achieve their goal of self-sufficiency.
